All submissions unless otherwise noted should be submitted through Dryfta. Please do not submit papers directly to track chairs.
All extended abstract and full paper submissions are blind reviewed by multiple reviewers. Authors should avoid identifying themselves in the text or title.
At least one author per accepted submission must register, pay for, and attend the conference. To win best paper in track, at least one author must attend the Friday awards luncheon.
At the time of submission, please have the following documents prepared:
- Non-identifiable submission file. This document should not contain any author details and will be sent for blind review.
- Formatted word document with author details if you would like to be published in the conference proceedings. Click here for formatting guidelines.
Both documents must be uploaded at the time of submission.
Submission Type Options:
Extended Abstract
Abstracts submissions are intended to be works in progress and must be a minimum of 750 words, excluding references, figures, and tables. The maximum length for abstracts is 5 single spaced pages including references, figures, and tables.
Full Paper
Paper submissions are intended to be completed pieces of research that have not been published, accepted for publication, or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. The maximum length for full papers is 20 single-spaced pages, including references, figures, and tables. Authors of full paper submissions will have the option to publish either a full paper or an Extended Abstract in the conference proceedings. Only full paper submissions will be considered for Best Paper Awards.
Special Sessions / Panel Sessions
These are intended to be sessions focused on a specific theme that would be of interest to SMA members. Special sessions or panel sessions must be a minimum of 750 words, excluding references, figures, and tables. The maximum length is 5 single spaced pages including references, figures, and tables. Submissions for sessions are reviewed by the respective track chair and/or Program Chair.
Distinguished Teaching Competition
This competition for mid-career and senior academics provides an opportunity for individuals who are distinguishing themselves as master teachers to see how good they really are. This is a fun, tough, and rewarding competition. The application package should include: (1) a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, (2) a condensed CV (no more than 2 pages), (3) supporting evidence of teaching excellence (no more than 5 pages). Innovations in Teaching Competition
Innovation here refers to novel activities, teaching methods, assessments, exercises, instructor/student/industry engagement, etc., which benefit marketing students. Initial submissions are limited to 5 pages, double-spaced. Typically, a submission includes (but is certainly not limited to): (1) an overview of the current situation, which highlights the 'a-ha' moment which led to the innovation, (2) a description of the innovation, (3) brief guidelines on how other instructors can implement the innovation, and (4) a discussion of its use. Please combine all files into a single document and submit directly to Larry Neale at l.neale@qut.edu.au

Dissertation Competition
The SMA Dissertation Competition recognizes outstanding doctoral research in the field of marketing. The competition encourages emerging scholars to showcase innovative ideas with firm conceptual and methodological grounding. Submissions may be early-stage proposals or completed dissertations, but all entries will be evaluated based on their scholarly merit, potential impact, and research rigor. Open to doctoral candidates and recent graduates (within 12 months of degree conferral). Extended abstract and full paper options. See Doctoral Dissertation Competition page for details.
